Corn Starch Processing Process

The presence of impurities in corn needed to be cleaned. The cleaning process mainly involved screening and winnowing. The cleaning equipment involved are vibrating screen (screening equipment), gravity stoner, permanent magnet drum and wheat cleaning machine. The 0.3% of sulphuric acid is impregnation into the corn, then it will be undergo crushing, sieving, sedimentation, drying and grinding and etc. The vibrating screen is used to segregate the size of corn into large, medium and small debris. The mesh screen for 1st layer of the screen surface with a diameter of 17 to 20 mm holes whereas the 2nd layer of screen surface is 12 to 15 mm diameter hole. It used to remove large and complex particles. The 3rd layer is optional which is used to remove particles smaller than 2 mm.

 

The principle used in a vibrating screen is when the eccentric start vibrates, the eccentric shaft rotates constantly. The screen is rising when the eccentric arm moves up, the materials on the screen being thrown around and loose. The screen is falling when the eccentric arm moves down and thrown materials are falling down to the screen. It is a parabolic motion. Repeated toss will caused the materials meeting a criterion to go through the mesh screen. 

The materials are discharges at the end of the screen. The features of vibrating screen:

1.Effective removal of impurities and ultrafine grinding mill corn seed can improve the quality of the product.

2.It removes the impurities during the process of cleaning.

3.It is fully covered to satisfy requirement of food grade.

4.An unique dust cover design to act as good sealing of the screen.

 

The gravity stoner is used to remove the stone in the corn. The large particle size of corn, flat grain type, and larger proportion in the operation will increase the air flow. An appropriate increase of wind speed, wind speed across the scale hole is about 14 m/s. The bump height scale hole is appropriately needed to increase to 2mm. The operation need to focus on the state of particles motion in the screen surface. The air flow and discharge end of the stoner condition needed to be monitor regularly.

 

Permanent magnet is used to remove the metal impurities in the corn. It should be placed in front of the corn into the crusher to prevent metal impurities reach into the crushing machine. The wheat cleaning machine can clean the soil and dust in the wheat corn. The cleaning process can reduce dust up to 0.6%.
